Does anyone have any info on this Swiss-made machine. The gold name plate (which is strangely mounted upside down) has the words Wengi, Soleure, and Solothurn. I assume this identifies the City and Canton of the manufacturer. There is also a stylized logo that shows a 4, then an underscore and then B, C and S under the underscore line. Inside the cover is , in cursive old-style handwriting, the date 18 Oktober 1917. My wife inherited this from her mother in Zurich. Help frrom anyone would certainly be appreciated.

I know nothing about your machine , but I like it . Very nice machine .

How lovely to have a machine that's come down through your family. I think your badge is for the seller, not the maker. The machine itself may be German. Can you take a close up picture of the gold badge, and also the engraved shield shaped cover near the tension?

DobbinDee70 and Bernadette, thank you for your comments! My wife, who grew up in Zurich, is sure that it is Swiss made. Whether Swiss or German, it is an engineering marvel. Works like a...well...like a sewing machine. We have a hand full of attachments which are stowed in the little compartment to the right of picture. Bernadette, I will post some pictures of the nameplates/medallions when I figure out how to do that.

Look at those lovely engraved plates! so beautiful. The extra pics may help someone get closer to identifying the machine. You have French, English and German language on the little cover plate. Is there engraving on the bobbin slide covers? Anything stamped underneath the machine?
