I've found these while exploring the beaches of the old Alameda Naval Station. I've never understood exactly what they were used for or how old they are. Can anyone shed some light on them? I have some other really interesting things i've found around those beaches which i'll post soon. Around where i found these buckles, i've found lots of old navy dishes and silverware too. The base was built between WWI & WWII.
Lot of those could be for cargo straps.
Belt buckles, & adjustable sliders, ammunition belts etc.
The Triglide with its traditional three bar slide configuration is based on buckle designs dating back to Roman Times.
thanks walksoftly. i thought there was something 'ancient' about them.
