Two years ago, i found this wonderful old twisted iron table w/ a rotten wood top. i replaced the top w/ a beautiful piece of marble i found and have been finding twisted iron chairs to go along w/ it. I found this one last night - on the sidewalk / trash near my house. I really love it and wonder what it was used for and when it was made. I'm guessing that it's related to art nouveau - sort of the industrial side of it, but am not sure.
i have such a diverse collection of shabby chic furniture [and everything else], but if i had to pick a favorite style or period, i think i'd pick turn of the century industrial - which this chair fits to a T! for art, i'm split between 19th century american landscapes and the early modernists - a very wide schism - which bridges this same period.
French café chair?
C'est Chic!
i'm not sure, but i think it might be more industrial than that. i have several w/ the traditional tops which are often referred to as ice cream parlor chairs. i have a tall, wooden one of those which spins around.
Have you seen these Montreux versions? Prahran here in Melbourne, Oz!

"iron twist"
yes, i have one - white as well! i picked it up not too long ago. can't remember where though...
i have several similar ones, but the one i'm referring to is an exact match. i'll try to post a photo of the matching table i have soon. that is a killer piece, i think.
It does have the look of the traditional ice cream parlor chair, but does look more industrial.
