This lamp has been in our family for four generations. It survived the Los Angeles Eartquakes with only the loss of the marble lamp cover and some chipping. It still works but we have no idea of value or style.
Looks to be French circa 1900-10. I have seen these go for $800.00 up to $1200.00 at Auction.
To Dizzydave:
We have had it appraised by Sotheby's at $7500. Thanks for your comment though.
Hi, Never seen one go that high in this condition, been doing this for 20+ yrs. Missing original globe, chips... I've seen signed pieces go for 6,000-10,000, but you didn't state in description of it being signed. By you photos the lamp and stand are 2 different styles so I don't think they are a match pair. They were proberly put togeather long ago but never started out togeather. I have a few friends at Sotherbys in New York, I will check with them to what I missed on this one. Maybe they seen something I didn't. Thanks, Dave
PS: If you can email me a copy of Appraisial, would like to see what they stated as origin and time period. Dave
