    Londonloet…
    (47 items)

So, it's been so long since I posted, I'd got out of the habit. Then this arrived, and my posting fingers got itching. I might even know what this one is!
I think I'm on fairly safe ground saying Loetz, and the decor is commonly known by the shortened name Diana (referring specifically to the colour of the oilspots, but meaning green oilspots on ozone blue ground) - hold breath, wait for the corrections ....
Now, this is where I get brave and stick my head above the parapet to be be shot at - again. I don't have the new Loetz book, but the closest production drawing I can find is in Ricke II, page 277, Prod No 85/3747/1, designed by Holubetz for Bakalowits in about 1900. The drawing says it's 11" tall - and mine is 11" tall. However, making appropriate allowances for my lack of German, neither the drawing nor the notes on page 536 seem to suggest this was done in a Diana decor - there is mention of Olympia and Vulkan (which is apparently a brown tone).
Now, this is where it gets interesting. The only other drawing close to this is Prod No 680 (Ricke II, p 109), again 1900 - but that is 8" or 9" and the "handles" curl the wrong way. BUT the notes on p 429 for both the 8" and 9" version refer to Diana.
So, what do you think? From my point of view, I love it whatever. And my photos simply do not do it justice.

You are so funny London L! This is really pretty but I read your posts to learn myself...so no input here.
Have a great day/evening depending and I am glad you are posting again.

Thank you AmberRose- for the love, the comment and the welcome back! You're on a sticky wicket learning from me though. I know nothing, and what I think I know is usually wrong - or starts a heated discussion!

Yes, it's Loetz Diana, and a Robert Holubetz design. Nice, the only one I have ever seen in this decor!

Well that's a verification that will do for me! Hurrah for provincial English auction houses. Thanks, DL.
      Thanks also, Vetraio50.

When I saw this piece listed I wrote to the seller and told him what it was. He did not know it was Loetz Diana.

LoetzBuddies, I could have saved a lot of umming and ahhing if I'd read the catalogue description after you told them! When I got a condition report and left my bid, there was no mention of Diana (which I knew) or Holubetz (which I didn't), and I didn't re-check the auction house site until just now. You're not doing your fellow collectors any favours, you know!!
      Thank you, gingerakesler.

      Education never hurts.

Ah LoetzBuddies, I would normally agree - I'm an Oxford graduate after all and my glass ignorance pains me. However, in this case my bank balance doth protest too much education - of other potential bidders! I hoped I was off the glasshound radar in deepest Lancashire!
Thank you Al - my heart skipped a beat when I knew I'd got it, and raced when it arrived. I can't stop looking at it.
Gary - thank you, I try to please! I may have something pink to post for you shortly ... Think Kralik floriforms.
Thank you also to Magdalenagirl, manddmoir, Madforglass and Bohemianglassandmore. It's so nice to be among friends!

Beautiful! Yes, green (Diana = green) spots on an ozone ground. Great & rare shape especially one in perfect condition! Congratulations.
