SOLID BRASS AIRPLANE
MODELED AFTER WW2 BOMBER (I THINK)
DON'T KNOW WHAT THE BULLETS ARE BUT IT IS ALL MADE FROM BULLETS AND SHELL CASEINGS
ITS ABOUT 10" LONG 12" WIDE (WINGS)
NEED HELP WITH A POSSIBLE DATE OR TIME PERIOD
I'VE HAD IT ABOUT 10 YEARS
Hello,
That is a nice plane looks like a WW II piece.
Trenchartman
What is that Trenchartman, Shell casing folded out for wings, 50 cal for body, and maybe 7.62 mm for engines? Great piece! Dave
I agree-- WWII, but I am not sure of the plane.
It is not American. Maybe some sort of German aircraft?
The highly polished finish also suggests that it was in Europe for a long time. Europeans don't like that natural patina that is prevalent in US housed pieces.
If this is British, it is probably of the Douglas A-20 (Havoc) that the RAF, the 8th and 9th AAF's used in the ETO. Other than the long proboscis, its outlines are very close to the Havoc. Sheet brass was fairly easy to secure if an airman (artist) was on an air base.
