This is the cash register that my grandparents used in a bakery that they owned since the mid sixties. The bakery had been in operation since the early 1900's in an ethnic neighborhood in a steel town. As the mills fell on hard times the neighborhood faltered and vandalism forced them to close the glass storefront in the 70's and go strictly wholesale. My father rescued this gem during the remodeling, an it has been in my parent's house until last night when my mother asked me if I wanted it. Yes, yes I do.

A sticker on the bottom side of the cash drawer is a guarantee from the seller stating that a full inspection was done on the day of sale and the has the name of the original purchaser and the date. September 9th 1918.

A question for all. Tear apart, clean and restore or leave it alone?

    Thanks for looking

I would restore that thing so fast it would make your head spin! An old Michigan is really hard to find. It looks like it still functions, is that the case?

Thank you all,egreeley1976, Designer, tommy1002, EJW-54, miKKoChristmas11, officialfuel, Kathycat,blunderbuss2, Manikin, Signaholic and LoriLovesVintage for the love.

Yes Signaholic, it is in perfect working order. I am missing two or three body screws and the "Amount Paid" sign that I think may have been an option. The holes to accomodate the sign are present.
