Probably a locally made piece for a concrete sculpture yard.

The businesses selling these type of concrete items (bird baths, sculptures, fountains, etc...) and other tourist type items used to be huge in the South. I still see them but not as many now.

I would think that your Santa was made in the last 40 years.

I have one exactly like it... it is at the very least 65 years old... Been in family for that long.. Purchased in Indianapolis, Indiana

My father and a friend of his worked for a cement company in Indianapolis Indiana and designed the Santa Head Christmas tree molds. They filled the molds with concrete and painted them. I remember riding with him in a old van as he went door to door selling them to make extra money. They were so heavy he had to take it slow when turning because they would slide from side to side. He eventually became the Vice President of sales for a very large cement company and actually sold all the cement to make I-65. I was 4 years old when he and his friend made these. That was 55 years ago. I have fond memories of these tree stands and would love to find one as the one we had was lost over the years. I know it has been years since the last post but wanted to give some history just in case the owners of these come back to this site.
