I inherited this clock about 30 years ago, but nobody seemed to know anything about it. I am curious about the age of the clock. I have never seen anything like it in all of the old clocks I have come across. Anyone have an idea? About the only thing I know is that it was made by Waterbury.

Wow! beautiful clock, Waterbury made some nice clocks but I never saw one like yours.

Thank you! I thought it was really unusual and I am hoping someone does know something about it. I would love some history on it.

Did u look up Waterbury Clock Co. Waterbury, Ct.?
    4. bmetsker, 12 years ago
Yes, I did look at what I believe is their site - that's where I saw over 800 mantel clocks, none of which looked like this one. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Correction to that last post: it was not Waterbury's site, they don't appear to have one. It was Savage and Polite's Antique Clock price guide - they have over 26,000 images of clocks - needless to say, I haven't been through all of them yet!! But, I am working on it.

I'm not sure what the problem is here, but I can't seem to pull up any images of your clock on your post page. Any other post I click on seems fine so I don't think the problem is on my end of the Internet. Anyone else having problems seeing photos of this clock?

You may have already tried this, but it comes up with a red x in the corner of the box for me. If I click on the red x, it opens up the picture. That is weird, but it works for me like that. I hope you can get it to open. I'd love for you to see it and tell me what you think.

Hi bmetsker. Thanks for getting back to me. No red x anywhere on the page... :(

Hello Bruce99, I am so sorry the picture isn't coming up for you! I don't know what to do. If you have any suggestions, let me know and I'll see if we can't resolve this issue. When I look at your page, I can see the picture of my clock under your comments - strange!!

I have added side and back views - if you can see those, let me know and I will try to delete and reload the first picture. Thanks!

Hi bmetsker. Okay, I can see the photos of your lovely Waterbury clock. Unfortunately, I can not find it in my references but it looks like it belongs in a class called "Metal Novelty Clocks". I saw a lot of clocks using what appears to be the same movement/dial. Those clocks were manufactured circa 1905 - 1915. That would be my best guess as to how old your clock is. A true antique, and a very beautiful one at that!

Thank you so much Bruce99! I had no idea when it would have been manufactured. I am so glad I rescued the clock. When I inherited it, a family member was getting ready to throw it away - he said it was just an old clock!

      And thanks for the love!
