I just got this for a family member who thinks it has been in our family gir 100 years . I would like to know if anyone has any info on this case/trunk . It is about 29 inch long , 14 inch high and 18 inches wide. Thanks anyone who can help me.
This is a common style european trunk with birch ribs that have been steamed and molded to fit the body of the trunk. This one seems to be made around 1910. They came in different sizes, this one being the genuine "steamer trunk" size that was allowed inside a cabin on an ocean going vessel. They also made them full sized. Probably made in England. I have one of the full sized ones, and have had a couple of these over the years. Some have placed stubby legs on them to get good height for a coffee table. Hope this helps a bit...
