Here are several photographs I found at a garage sale this morning.
I find the expression on the soldiers face and the poem intriguing. A love waiting at home, he looks a little “dreamy-eyed.”
The other is a group Navy photo. The writing on the bottom says;
U. S. Nav Tra Cen
Co. Comd' r,
D.W. Haskell Csp(a)
San Diego, California, 13 Dec. 1944
44-592
Some of the identifying writing is a little difficult to read, this is my best interpretation.
enjoy
Great find Pack ! I was looking for my Dad in that Navy photo in San Diego but I think he was in a year later . I would love for it to have shown him :-) I have to locate his papers one day soon .

The lady said to me, “these are relatives of mine, but I do not know who they are, so I am selling them”, amazing.
Soldier with the helmet-thats an early WWII photo, as the helmet liner is the early cardboard "fiber" liner.....
My grandfather was at this same USNTC in April 1944. He had the same commander. Thanks for sharing
