    THIS LOOKS LIKE THE 1ST RADIO I HAD. IN GOOD CONDITION BUT DIDN'T HAVE A BATTERY TO TEST IT. JUST LIKED IT WHEN I SAW IT. NOTICE THE CIVIL DEFENSE INDICATORS ON THE DIAL.

      I have this same radio! It's from 1955.. A very early model... considering the fact that the first transistor radio hit the consumer market on October 18, 1954... Mine is posted here on CW also if you'd care to check it out. Thanks for sharing !!

      Here's a link to more info on it. This site puts this model at 1957... The price guide I have has it being made around 1955... Your's and mine have the same color scheme as the model pictured in my guide. You'll see that the one on this site is different: http://www.jamesbutters.com/travlertr287b.htm
