I have a bunch of these Beaded wall hangings. some are in the shapes of boots and some are like birds. this one is a large one in very good shape. some are losing their beads. what are they and who made them?

To me looks like a fire screen panel and if Victorian looks very early or even Georgian, and I think it was meant to attach to a fire screen that person when sitting when near the warmth could shield their face from the heat ....:-)

I think that these are called Iroquois Beaded Whimsies. I have a boot, and several pillows like this one. i'm not sure what the meaning is behind them, but i think they were made for the tourism market around niagara falls around the turn of the 20th century.

besides this one and two pillows, i have a boot whimsy and a tri-lobed heart whimsy. they are sometimes called mohawk whimsies.

I didn't realize it was cushion like, the shape and old bead work look very like the covers they used on the face/fire screen they used to use..sorry!.. it is very pretty anyway!....:-)
