The piece was found in the basement of Rockledge Mansion outside of Winona, Minnesota in the 80s shortly before the estate was demolished.

The house was built in 1912 and the exterior and interior were designed by G. W. Maher. Around 1930 the house was done over in the art deco style. The piece might be from the deco style remodel as it does not match many descriptions I have found from the original Maher design. Many of the prairie style pieces had lilies and this has no such design. No stamp or signature either. There are few photos of the original house as far as I know.

    Everyone's input is greatly appreciated!!

the way that this one has a window which is bowed out makes me think it might be called a 'nicho' or niche for a small diorama of sorts.
