I know this is a Buttons and Bows pattern in vaseline glass, boat shaped relish dish. That's all I know. I found this dish at an antique mall. I cannot find this particular dish anywhere for comparison. Am very curious as to who made it and when. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It would appear that this piece was made by Hobbs Brockunier in the 1880's and the pattern in called Daisy and Buttons, in the shape of a canoe. I have seen it called a pickle castor also. I stumbled across the pattern and shape while looking for another piece, however I have yet to actually see an exact a vaseline piece. Any info or verification would be appreciated.

from the normal lighting image the color looks to be Apple Green, which often does glow similarly to vaseline. I cannot say who made it; there were many companies making the Daisy & Button pattern. I won't say that is is not Hobbs, Brockunier #101, only that the pieces I've seen attributed as HB #101, based on catalog images, have a undulating scallop and point along the finished edge. This piece has an even scalloped (no points) edge.

BTW, if you do an eBay search for - pickle castor canoe - there is a vaseline piece with a holder listed

Upon doing hours and hours of researching, I've come across this

a picture by Dave Peterson aka Mr. Vaseline Glass himself.

Thank you for your help. This is a fascinating exploration.

My identical piece was appraised as Daisy & Button pattern vaseline with no maker listed. Love the vaseline!!
