    trunkman
    (149 items)

Introducing to you all -- my first trunk! This one got the ball rolling some twenty five years ago. I was driving down my street when I saw a city garbage truck -- the kind that hauls big items. This little baby was sitting on top of the pile on its way to the dump. I have to follow it about 10 city blocks before I could finally pull up beside the driver and ask him if he would pull over and let me have the trunk he was carting away. He said he would for the price of a cup of coffee -- so I forked over a buck and had this stuffed in my trunk. I took it home and cleaned it up. My first love. Nice European trunk -- probably made in England. It has nice brass fittings, corners, latch and label. One rib is cracked but other than that a fine old specimen. This one has a place at the foot of our bed filled with priceless childhood memories. Best dollar investment I ever made....

Hi eye -- form and function blended together in perfect harmony -- finally found the cable for my camera -- thus the long posting hiatus -- gotta catch up to you, as I see you have been burning up the quarter mile at the local thrift shops. I am glad you liked my Indian "fancy suit" comment -- as I had a good chuckle over your comments - had to look up LMAO though, which was worth another laugh yet again. With humor you have to suffer a few strikeouts to get it out of the park... You have a great batting average!

Nice item! I found a trunk myself and don't know nothing about them... by your name and your photos you seem to know a lot... is there a way to contact you privately so you can help me find what it is?
    5. trunkman trunkman, 12 years ago
Well -- with a name like "Psychopat" I am a bit leery of giving out personal information:). Post a picture of your trunk and I will be glad to comment, as will others in this forum and we can all learn something. Thanks for your message...

      Hi!

I am trying to find out more information about a similar trunk but am having no luck. Do you have any information regarding this trunk's manufacturer that you can share?
    9. trunkman trunkman, 11 years ago
Hi megewillis... this is actually a common style of trunk made by many manufacturers. Germany has this style as well and England and France as well as some other European makers. Without an actual maker's label you will have a hard time knowing who made it. You are welcome to post a picture of it on this forum and let us have a look at it and if there is anything else we can tell about it we would be happy to share.... Does yours have this exact same label on it?

Drill can I lend you my old "beater" for a week???
    11. Drill Drill, 10 years ago
Sorry pal didn't see the post! Sure you can lend me the beater but I'd end up cleaning it up a little for ya!
And Yes I'm searching for who made it .The stork as well as the Long horned steer that is on a similar Bent slat trunk? Both i have seen a few times before.Very curious.

Trunkman, this is quite a find! I really love the European trunks, especially the quality made trunks like this one.
I just bought a canvas covered hat trunk with this very same brass stork logo on each side of the trunk. I'm unable to identify the trunk maker, but, I believe mine was made in England. Would love to know a little bit about the maker of your trunk. It would help me identify mine as well. Nice trunk you have here!!

jscott thanks for the comment -- I have no idea who the maker was -- only suspect England as do you.. so hard to know where to begin to look for such info. This trunk actually looks better than the picture suggests,,, my camera does not work well in browns I am discovering. I have found along the way easily over 10 decent trunks on the curb in the past 25 years... most by now have been refinished and sold off... living in an "Old City" I think helps...

trunkman, were you ever able to find anything on this trunk maker? I just posted my gentlemans' hat trunk by the same maker that I mentioned a few months ago.
    16. jscott0363 jscott0363, 10 years ago
trunkman, the maker of our trunks is Liprosta of Dresden, Germany. Jim, of HMS, was able to identify the maker for me. So, I thought you may want to google it and check it out. He sent me some really great information.
