A couple weeks ago I was kidding about a trade for earlycoke's incredible, authentic 1896 ceramic syrup dispenser. That very same night, this hard rubber reproduction came up for auction on eBay and I could not ignore the coincidence. Listed on page 353 of Petretti's 12th, one of only a handful of reproductions included as collectible in Mr. P's Coca-Cola Bible. I could never afford an authentic dispenser, nor would I feel comfortable displaying it, the way Thing 1 and Thing 2 rough-house in the Coke Cave. By acquiring the 50's repro, I can enjoy the spirit of the old piece without worry (or much of an investment, approx 1/2 book value).
Thanks Ray. Filling with candy isn't a bad idea actually... would be a good place to hide from the sneaky snackers. Not a piece I ever aspired or expected to own, just popped up on the radar and played out favorably. I believe in "4C":
Coca-Cola Collecting Carma
(I know, 3C+1K but I like 4C!)
Ohhhhmmmmmmm....
thanks tr, kerry, tony, and manikin for stopping by to take a look.
LMAO, senior ceramic class!!!! Now that's funny, I don;t care who you are. Great find Dave! Glad you were able to score this big boy! I got the small one and you got the large one.
I was a junior when I made it Ray. Not a senior.
Thanks Perry and Blaine and Kathy.
Nice grab Dave! I thought I struck gold with a "real" one last week, kept enlarging pictures and comparing it with magnifying glass to the one on the right in Petretti's 12th. The seller said it was "old & rare", got it for a steal, then found out ti was a $#$%& cookie jar from the "90's! Go figure!
That do sound familiar, thanks Bernie, I keep my magnifying glass handy as well!
I made a lot of stuff when I was a junior. Most of it centered around noodles and glue! You must've been in the advanced art class Blaine, I wasn't.
Yes Ray, we called ours, early "Kay Displays"
Thanks ttomtucker for checking out my collection, I appreciate the visit.
Beautiful room and decor
Happy Easter :)
Thank you Aim, and Happy Easter to you too. I've changed that area by moving in an old buffet (see updated pic). Though the 50's repro point-of-purchase display syrup dispenser remains in that location. Hope you have a great holiday weekend!
SUPER !!!!!!!
Thanks Rose!
