Bought this for my wife at an estate sale. It looked neat and thought it would look nice to the rest of her china tea set collections that she has acquired. I am not sure if I got a good deal, I have no seen one on the internet yet of the exact model. The bottom of the tea pot states “Bernard Rice’s Sons Inc” above the name it states “APOLLO E.P.N.S” and on the bottom of the name it has number 5789. Is this full silver or plated? I am not sure. Not sure how old it is or if it is a real find. Any information would be great. After some haggling I Paid $35.00 for the set. Was it worth it? I am not sure, however my wife loved it; so I guess I made out well.
I've just learned that the BSCEP stamp on the bottom of my serving tray means Barbour Silver Co. ElectroPlate. I'm guessing that the EP on the bottom of your set also means silver plate, rather than full silver. (For $35, and your wife is happy, I think you did well!)
yes, ESPN designates silverplate. A very pretty set you got for 35.00, and the style is great.
Hi, my Mom is thinking of selling her tea set. Could you tell me what the I S on the bottom means, the letters also have a box around them? Thanks so much Christina
