I picked this phone up at an auction this past weekend and thought it was unusual, I'm not sure if this phone would of been used on a train or trolley. The arm extends out about 24 inches and also turns 90 degree's. The brass tag in the last pic reads "Railway Electric Mfg. Co Milwaukee, Wis". There is also a little black push button to the left of the brass tag and on the ear receiver it reads "Western Electric". If any phone buffs out there can tell me about this phone, it would be much appreciated. Thanks for looking!

You have a “Dispatchers” phone. Often used inside Railroad signal towers for the tower operator to communicate with train crews via small wooden phone boxes located at the beginning of each signal block along the line.

Wow, Thanks railnsail for the information! Are these dispatcher's phone scarce? I can't seem to find any. Once again thanks for the info!

Your pipe dispatchers phone comes up on Ebay about four or five a year. The Railway Electric Mfg. Co dispatchers phone is not common.

It was good to find you and the related information. I recently picked up one but had no idea as to where it came from, etc. As a matter of fact, I put a "mystery" photo on this site and just found yours.
      Thanks,
      Zeter
