I found this ring this weekend and I thought it was a really nice find.
    Its a fede gimmal ring.
A gimmel ring, is a ring with two or three hoops or links that fit together to form one complete ring. The name gimmal comes from Latin gemellus, twin.
In the 16th and 17th centuries such rings were fashionable in England, Germany, and other countries, and were often used as betrothal rings. With triple link rings, a third person could witness the couple's vows and hold the third part of the ring until the marriage.
Most rings that you see today are georgian, but of course they still make them till today.
So now my question...what period do you think this ring is from?
I think the heart looks a bit to 'sharp' to be old...But then again, I'm no expert.
I tested it and its silver, I don't really understand the greenish tarnish though.

Hi, this ring reminds me of my youth. As a young woman I had one too. But only now you realize that it's so unfortunate is that it has lost. But I had that ring when I was a year of 14 so it was dated around the 60s. A cute ornament!

Thanks miKKoChristmas11, Hunter and BELLIN68 for loving my ring. Thanks Agram.m for your comment and for liking it. Maybe it's from the sixties, maybe not, always nice to hear a personal story.

Hi probably silver plated copper or bronze / brass because of the verdigris .
The sharp edges and crude workmanship make me thing 1960's on wards the type of thing that came from Indian bazzar.

Hey ozmarty, thanks a lot for your comment. I think you are probably right and it is made in the sixties or later.
Maybe next time I will find one from the 1880's. (a girl can dream, right?)

Hi Newtimes , All us collectors dream of that special find ... it is what makes us so passionate ... the Hunt, the discovery of lost treasure ..... be it something that sparkles or an old wooden trunk ..
