May I request your help with a bronze bell that was used on the farms of my grandfather and, later, father.
It was almost certainly made in either the late 1920s or very early 1930s.
The bell itself is 10 inches tall with a maximum diameter of 11.75 inches.
With the cast-iron support it weighs around 110 pounds.
Any idea on value?
Also, I would like to return it to its just-from-the-factory look. Is that a bad idea? Is it possible and, if so, how should I do it? (I tried everything in Ace Hardware and Lowe's without success.)
And, yes, you can see where my brothers shot it...fortunately with a .410 and not a .30-06. (They shot up a 1960 Ford F100 Coca-Cola truck, too. "It was there. We had guns." And maybe some amber liquor. Does a redneck need any more excuse.

Very nice bell and I love the history of bells on farms I call them pre cell phones :-) They had a real purpose and that was a way to communicate with people in the fields to get their attention. Woman used them to call out for husbands and they called in the farm hands . And of coarse Dinner call ! I love it and would leave it untouched if mine . I remember having one on my grand parents farm . I am sure some here on CW knows more about it and can maybe help you more I just like it as it is :-) Thanks for coming to CW and welcome
