Here i got an old Antique Firemans Helmet but dont know much about it.This has a leather number and rest of the Helmet is made of Aluminum.Would any one out there might know anything about this Helmet?Maybe like the age and value of it, thanks, Wm.
This is a Cairns & Bros. Flint-flex helmet. It is a synthetic fiberglass-like material they used in the 1940s-1950s. It is NOT made of aluminium, though it has a few metal components.
The front shield is not full size and was either cut/broken or was taken from another helmet. It is not the style/size intended for this helmet, whch takes a standard 6" front shield.
Value is not so high: $50-85 at most despite OK condition. It is not a rare or particularly desirable helmet for collectors, nor does it appear to have any real historical significance.
