This is a Cairns & Bros. Flint-flex helmet. It is a synthetic fiberglass-like material they used in the 1940s-1950s. It is NOT made of aluminium, though it has a few metal components.

The front shield is not full size and was either cut/broken or was taken from another helmet. It is not the style/size intended for this helmet, whch takes a standard 6" front shield.

Value is not so high: $50-85 at most despite OK condition. It is not a rare or particularly desirable helmet for collectors, nor does it appear to have any real historical significance.
