I bought this at a local flea market this morning. The guy said the only thing he knew about it is that someone told him it's a foot rest from an old barber chair. It caught my eye because it's a nice, industrial piece. Made out of iron and probably weighs close to 10 pounds. Measures 15" by 3 3/4". There's a hole on each side of it where it would've mounted to something. I've looked online but can't find any info.
Does anyone know if this is, in fact, a barber's chair foot rest? It does show some wear where feet would've sat on it.
Rob, I guess it is possible that it could be a ladder rung. You can't tell from the picture, but where the mounting holes are on the sides of it, the iron is angled to where it would be much like a ladder. I'll start looking into it and see if I can find anything there. Thanks!
I have a picture of these on a ladder for a slide (playground). They may have been used for other things, as well, though.
jc, does it say AMERICAN like this one?
junkcollector, just wanted to say thanks for the tip! After researching that angle, that's exactly what it is. Mystery solved!
jonima,
Can you tell me any other info on the slide this step would belong to? I actually have an entire slide, ladder and all, and I'm trying to find out more information on it!
Not a whole lot. When I was home for Thanksgiving, I noticed the one at the playground in my hometown was an American slide. It's still the same slide that was there when I was a little kid, so apparently they're built to last. It's all metal and is probably about 8 feet high or so.
