These belonged to my aunt when she was little, about 40 years ago. They are plastic and their limbs are attached be elastic at the shoulders/hips. I cant see any markings or anything. They have little ornate pins stuck in them, holding various parts of their clothing down (you may be able to see this slightly on the arms of the girl doll in the last photo). My mum said something about them being in the style of Charles II and Marie Antoinette, sort of a Jacobean style?
Just wondered if anyone knew anymore about them, we are thinking of selling them at the moment as we have no use for them.
Thanks in advance for any replies!!
They look like they represent King Arthur and Guinevere dolls. made to be novelty dolls to display not as toys . Without looking for a mark on them under her hair on back of neck or on back hard to say who made them . Have you checked for markings ? also look inside clothes for a tag .
Thanks for your response Manikin, I have looked where you said and everywhere else and only found a small black 'M' on the left foot of the man. Thats the only clue! I think they look a little too modern and too royal to be King Arthur and Guinevere, I would expect more medieval clothing if it were them. But who knows?!
