This was given to our unit in Afghanistan 2002 3/187th 3rd BDE INF. It is the 187 Airborne patch but was changed to Air Assault patch because the 187 is no longer an active airborne unit.

This patch was never worn on the military unit in garrison or in the field. Unlike the original patch with "Airborne" across the top. I was poking around and found that a Canadian E-bay seller is selling these so I asked where he got it or them from and he said a company in Canada is making them?????? The seller did not know what the patch was for. We were stationed in Kandahar with Canadian military units so I assume the patch may have changed hands there we "the soldiers" did try to trade with other foreign soldiers we met for various items.

correction "military uniform" in place of first line "military unit"
