    i bought this from an old Chinese man at the Laney College Flea Market in Oakland today. It's a beautiful stand - perfectly sturdy and aged - a different kind of wood - very hard and easily polished w/ a strong grain. The bowl is one i picked up at a Payless Drug Store in Oakland a few years ago. i think it's based on a dried / dessicated sea urchin. wouldn't this make a great lamp? it's about 3' tall.
