I picked this pitcher up at an antique store the other day. They could tell me nothing about it but I liked the design on it. So I tried researching it but not coming up with a lot. The pitcher is blown - has a pontil mark. It has a spiral ribbing which gets deeper as it works up to the top of the pitcher. The handle is applied and rather small. The base of the pitcher is what attracted me to it. To me it looks like fingers wrapping around the base of the pitcher holding it. It sits on 6 feet. The tops of these "fingers" and the bottoms of the feet have a crosshatch mark on the. There are numerous air bubbles evident in the glass.
I found similar styles called Lily Pad Glass from Southern Jersey. But there are too many differences. This piece is so different from anything I've ever seen. If anyone can help with some background on it, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you!!
