i purchased one of these at a yard sale last year for $3, and while walking by the same house the other day, i noticed the other one was outside and looked ready to be tossed in the trash. i knocked on the door and the woman told me i could have it. i tried to pay her something, but she wouldn't take anything and apologized because it needed to be cleaned! i love eames furniture or herman miller furniture, but don't know much about it. i have a couple other different chairs too. i bought the green chair which is marked 'Steelcase' on the bottom the other day for $7.50. does anyone know anything about those ones?

Really wonderful! I had decided to move to Wisconsin so I could shop at Goodwill, then delayed - considering how much Scandinavian glass AmberRose finds habitually in Chicago, I wondered "Go Chicago?" - now I am thinking "Go Bay area". I simply do not understand how you find all these treasures so consistently. Bravo!

thank you! the real amazing thing is that i live on a shoestring. i live in a neighborhood w/ a lot of history. the east bay began as an adobe about 2 blocks from my house. now most people who live around here are immigrants and they prefer bright, shiny, new things, so are more than happy to get rid of the old stuff for a few bucks.

I definitely live in the wrong neighborhood, all that I find out here in the boonies is road kill! :-((

That's quite the place, I think my wife would put her foot down if I start bringing home road kill.
She did let me bring home some rusty pieces from the dump today though!

      gotta start somewhere!

today: rusty junk from the dump
tomorrow: film 'eating giants' in your living room...

It was kind of funny while at the dump a guy was there unloading stuff that his wife made him return to the dump.

i saw a set of the green office chair at the alameda flea the other day and they weren't at all cheap. one of the fancy booths had them. i think it's a pretty cool one, as far as office furniture goes. it kind of has a feel to it which reminds me of heath pottery.
