I dont know what this is, not sure what type of metal it is either. The letters E.P.N.S are on the bottom, I dont know what they mean, does anyone have any clue what this is?

Hi, EPNS means "Electro-plated nickel silver". It means that it is silver plated over a non-precious metal. The following article explains what it is more fully.

Hi, lorijoje! I thought that I detected a pattern of decoration with Aesthetic Movement motifs. Namely, the arch that frames the flowers, the flowers, and the fan (or shell). I might be mistaken. Here's an image of an Aesthetic Movement china pattern. See the 'ribbon band'?

I was looking at that platter and I do see what you mean but what does all that mean? do you have a round about year for this item? whats your opinion?
Hi, lorijoje! Well, if this is Aesthetic Movement, and it is American - which is much less certain, then it a possible date range would perhpas be circa late 1860's to 1910 or so. I'm certainly no expert, however! I just love Aesthetic Movement style. If it is not a reproduction, then it's pretty old. FYI, it is likely that it's not British because it isn't fully hallmarked. Not all American pieces bear maker's marks, so it could well be American. : )
