I bought a house back in 1987. While cleaning out the old coal shoot, which was now a storage space, I found this old Everclear Bottle. Looks to be very old. They were still in Pekin Ill. when it was made. Any idea on it's age? Has some white crystals inside, can't get it open.

The original trademark registration for Everclear was 7/6/1950, by the American Distilling Company. It was later made by David Sherman Corporation and finally by Luxco. Your bottle has the address but no zip code, so that would put it between 1950 and 1963. It's become really hard to find due to the high alcohol content and is illegal in quite a few states and some cities. (which is a shame because it makes for some great mixing.(think New Orleans Tropical lsle hand grenade.. Mmmmm) It was frequently used as for making tinctures of camphor or witch hazel, among many other things. That might be what left the crystals in your bottle. :-)

Thanks for the info. My house had some major work in the early 1960's when they switched the furnaces over. Maybe someone had a little party there while working.
