This a few different styles of the other older silk scarves that I won in the box lot last Saturday night. It appears to be hand painted after close inspection with magnifying glass, but is not signed. The others in the lot were similar to the last two shown, plus two exact same Japanese silk men's tie's in purple with pagoda and cherry tree scene sewn in. I like the dogs scarf the best but would like to know if these are worth holding on to, or just a waste of space. Any thoughts on these?
The dogs are great. From the little bit of vintage clothes picking/re-selling that I've done, scarves tend to be some of the least valuable items. Unless you can figure out the provenance/date/military connection (and then they might have value to a very specific type of collector).
Thanks for the information and liking these Hunter. With the exception of Hermes, I have to agree with you. I purchased the lot for the Masonic silk only, but after examining the Geisha one I thought it to be hand painted but no signature or identifying marks. I know nothing about vintage clothing, but do buy all xxl RL Polo brand at thrifts, dre$$ for less : ) my favorite since I was a kid, plain and classic.

Yep, designer scarves are a different breed entirely...you can always frame a nice one and use it as artwork!
Dog kerchief is FABULOUS!!! I also love the other two. The other two look like some made during WWII, though I don't know if they were made then. Here's one tip I know from experience, DON'T DRY CLEAN THE SILK TO KILL ANY POTENTIAL MOTH EGGS - the dry cleaning fluid will remove the image. Only takes one cleaning to do this. Alas!!! It happened to me. A Japanese POW painted one for my father in WWII. I had it drycleaned when he died - to destroy any potentially lurking moth eggs, and it looked fine when I picked it up from the cleaner's. However, not long afterwards, the image vanished. Wonderful finds. Perhaps not uncommon not to find signature on handpainted Japanese hankerchiefs of WWII era. ??? I don't remember his being signed, and it was surely hand painted.
