As requested T-man. A really messy artist & no place to get a good shot upstairs & a narrow spiral stairs going down. My memory was wrong on the date. The news paper pasted in the lid is 1838 if you can see it here. (it is canted to the rest of the paper).
He wants to know if anybody can give an idea of value. I'll try for better pics when I'm not in a hurry.

Fabulous job on the repro Blunderbuss. The brass and tacks look great as well as the finish. I am not very good on value due to market area -- these do come up on ebay from time to time usually from $200 to $600 depending on condition. (I always think they should be worth more but you never find out what they actually sell for) At a retail antique store probably in a higher range. Thanks for giving us a peek!

ho2--, T-mon asked for pics of my copies of this chest & since we aren't supposed to post home-made things, I posted the orig. again with mine. Mine don't of course have that 200 yr+ character (yet). The prototype I made was good enough that friends wanted their own. It made no sense to jig-up for 3-4, so I decided to make a dozen & sold them with numbers & numbered certificates with history & details. Lost my outlet & still have 2 left. Hump-backed tops aren't easy at all! The minute angle on the slats is even hard to detect when assembling.
I like the orig. so much that I'm going to offer my friend free restoration. The chest is unique in my memory & I will post some decent pics when I get it out of his studio. I'll post before & after as there seems to be an interest. Soap & water will be first as it is coated with almost 2 centuries of dust & grime. I'll enjoy it & hope others do also.
