My wife's G.G.G Grandfather died 1873 he married 1872 and his wife had a boy. He was a soldier in Salem Independent Cadets, the left letter says he died, and the right letter says they want to pay for funeral . It looks like both were writing from the same soldier.Really nice writing.
The soldiers were in Boston after this huge fire, and this is a 8/10 of him and wife before he died 1873. She had his son and this is the only man named Cook , and today my wife's brother has the Cook name.
very interesting history about this paper, there is a trademark on the left top of this paper, its punched Congress above the Congess building in Washington, and under is Carew . Co

Tell me!!! I really wonder how this clerk could write this? We have no other writing about him. And his family, funny in 1873 this was what the family names were. He was William H. Cook died only 1873 22yr, his son was William Cook 1. His son born 1903 was William Cook 11. And this one has a son William Cook 111 he is now 72 still alive, his brother was my wife's brother Alan, died 2009

He died 1873 as a soldier, and this letter says he will be in a book about Salem Independent Cadets.I can not find this, The Salem Independent Cadets are from 1700s, Salem is beside are town. The history is hard to find about them.

Thanks Mikko, This group is useless. terrible i post some picture there really old ones, No one look at them, and friend told me some people there may take my pictures. Thanks Salem is only town with out a History Society around here the old museum for 1800 have old book and nice stuff for 1800 for ships.
