I picked this item up at ou local antique mall. I have several antique phones, but have never seen a mouth piece like this one. The top bell box, and reciever are missing, and some one has put a phonebook shelf in it's place. The transmitter is what really interested me. If anyone can give me any information on this, or tell where I might find a bell box and reciever I would appreciate it . Thanks

rocker-sd, nice phone to picked up, I use to sell at the R.G. Canning Rose Bowl swap meet. I was in the Green area selling restored telephone. To find a top box for your blake set, check on Ebay for a walnut Western Electric type 21. There are sellers on Ebay who sell the long pole receivers that you need for this set. The long pole receivers sell for around 325.00 and up. the walnut type 21 top box around 175.00 and up. The transmitter is called a "Blake" transmitter because of it's inventor Francis Blake Jr. The first three box blake set appeared on the market in 1882 and was manufactured by Western Electric Co. The manufacturing arm of the American Bell Telephone Co. The other names on the transmitter Edison and Berliner has to do with patent infringement by Western Union Co.

ttomtucker, thank you for the information. What would the phone be worth if it was complete? Just for a reference point to how much I should invest in it.
When did you sell at the rose bowl? I started selling there when I was in high school in 1970 and continued selling there through the eighties. In fact I bought a restored Brass Kellogg Candle Stick Phone in the mid eighties there. I also sold in the green area. Small world. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

Rocker-sd, I went and check my blake set and you need to put a Western Electric type 2 top box with six terminals at the bottom. I sold at the Rose Bowl during the 1970's, we also sold single box wall phones and brass candlesticks. You can email me direct at mox-nix@cablespeed.com for more photo's and information about your blake set. Tom
