I found one-half of this old mexican pot about 5 years ago - next to the remains of an old house next door to a client's home in Orinda. My client told me i could go and look for pots around the place. I found only half of this pot, but i liked it so much, i hang on to it. Then about 2-3 months ago, i asked if i could return to the place and see if there were anymore pots. i couldn't believe my eyes when i spotted the other half of the pot deep under some very overgrown bushes. i brought it home and put the two pieces together and they fit perfectly! you can barely see the line. but one side is covered in moss while the other side is not. the planting is typical of my pots - i use a lot of hand-collected rocks and tight, talus-loving plants like this Davidson's Penstemon and Purple Stonecrop. There's also a tiny Dudleya which i found in Baja many years ago and which nobody has ever been able to id. That one needs to grow in some more before it's visible. i'll file this under 'Native American', because it is an old mexican indian pot [probably from the 1940s-50s].
