Parkers

This little item is intriguing because it seems to be well made as opposed to 'utility' type quality. I am pretty sure it is Victorian because it was dug from a Victorian Dump in South Wales. Size you can judge from the pics and the thread on the 'stopper' is fine and fits well. The 'egg' itself is hollow with no interior baffles, swirls or anything else to give a clue as to its use. The glaze is 'crazed' but only finely. The weight is 177 g and it sits on my desk as a conversation piece in the vague hope that someone will say 'Oh I know what that is !' Sadly not - at least not in the last three years. Has anyone a clue ?
this may be a long shot, but the first thing I thought of was a toilet float. Check out this article, and maybe you can contact Mike Bruner to see if he's seen one like this?
