I just purchased this rocking chair out of an antique estate sale in Pennsylvania. I think the chair has a lot of character. I will get this re-upholstered to bring it current in my home.
I have been looking for any other chair like it, however, I have not come across one. If you know anything about this chair, Please feel free to email me. I would appreciate any help on discovering what this piece is. It is very unique. Thanks

I own a chair similar to this although it is not a rocker and the back is a little different. I have just posted it on this site as an unsolved mystery.

I have a chair that is similar. My chair has a tag made from H.Z. Mullen Company from Chicago. I want to restore my chair, but have no clue how to do it as the back and seat were already gone. It has tacks all around. I don't know where to start.

I have a very similar rocker, an armchair and love seat that are matched. The heavy floral needlework is worn on the white linen (?) seat fabric of the love seat, but overall the condition is very good. I was told by an antique appraiser about thirty years ago that it's Roman Empire style and the design was late 18th early 19th, and it was an early repro of that style, a valuable antique on it's own merit. No labels or country of origin, nothing had been found and I refused to have the upholstery loosened to look inside for anything to help identify it further. The value then was stated as approximately $500 as a set, which means little now, I'm sure.
