I believe my Father bought this watch in 1960. He passed away in 1996 and though he owned a rather large collection of watches, somehow this is the one that he wore most often.
The strap does not seem original to me, but would still date back to the seventies. The crystal(?) is showing signs of age and seems to be 'stress fracturing' though it is still intact. The watch is hand wound and keeps perfect time. Date flips over at midnight, precisely. All engravings on the rear point to an original 'Tudor' made by Rolex. As I mentioned before, it is in perfect working condition.
I would be grateful if someone could please help me identify the specifics of this model.
There should be a serial number on the case between the band lugs. You may be able to read it without taking the band off. The serial will tell you when it was made.
Thanks a ton. Yes I noticed that there is a serial number. I guess it is 339749, though I am not too sure.
I checked again, with a loupe this time, one side of the case says 330749 and the other side says 7961. Does this help?
Regards.
