This set was my gggrandmother Kelley's wedding gift. Spooner, creamer, butter dish, and sugar bowl. These set in my grandmother's china cabinet since she received them from her mother just before her mother's death in 1952. I received them in 2006 when my grandmother died. The creamer was obviously the item most used and suffers from some paint loss from frequent washing, probably long before the turn of the last century and anyone even thought about preserving them. My grandmother was a huge collector of pattern glass, and she gave me the priveledge of photographing and cataloging all of her glass before she passed. But, these are my favorites because they belong in the family.
Beautiful Set Jane!
Thanks Shawn, and Thanks too MustangTony for the love. It's amazing that after a 100 years+ they still have any of their original color on the flowers!! I'm so grateful to my grandmothers who preserved them for their future family. While I have bought and sold a lot of glass, I am going to set aside a few of my favorites for my ggrandchildren. This set will hopefully live another hundred years!!
Excellent Idea! One of the main aspects of glass that really attracted be is the fact that unlike, metal, plastic, wood or many other materials Glass can retain is Beauty far longer with much less chances for deterioration as long as you keep it in a safe spot and don't handle it often!
