When I was a little girl, about five years old, my mother worked in a little cafe for a few hours a week. I would go with her and she would bring me books, dolls etc. to play while she worked. I sat in a little booth in the corner and it was my very favorite time!!! There was a very elderly woman that came in almost every time I was there and she would sit and talk to me. Such a sweetie. I pretended she was my grandma. One day she came in with two of the most beautiful dolls I had or have ever seen. A rollerskating doll, and a bride doll. She set them in front of me and asked if I would love them and give them a good home. I have never forgotten her face. This is the first of the two dolls.
She still works! Wind her up and then slowly turn another little crank and off she goes. You can adjust the little silver slides on her skates to make her go in circles or straight. Her head and arms move with her. I don't know how old they are or what they are. No marks anywhere. The hair is sewn on and I have all the original clothing. Her eyes open and close un-assisted. I would love to know how old she is, etc. I am now 53 and the wonderful woman was well into her 80's. Thanks so much for letting me share her with you and I hope you can help me.
I want to say she is a 1954-1955 Wanda the Walking Wonder
Thank you so much for your comment. What a cute name for a doll. I appreciate your time!
I love the background story too!
Lovely story!
