Anyone have any idea where I could possibly find out some info about this? I swear Ive looked at a million websites and pics...to no avail! When I found it the legs were removed and inside the trunk...what a beautiful surprise when it was opened! I have brought it to a few different places and noone has ever seen anything like this. Pakistanian, Indian? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It gives a whole new meaning to the word trunk! The problem with this type of piece as you are finding is that there are none around to compare it to. I am suspicious of these kinds of trunks because the Asian market has become quite clever in making a new item look old for decorative purposes. It could very well be a twenty year old piece or 100 yrs. old. I would hazard a guess and say that because it is clearly made as a coffee table it is a newer piece. Generally older trunks were made specifically for storage and not a dual purpose as this one. Another clue is the latch, which is meant to be purely decorative and not functional and appears to be a cheaper grade of metal-- which indicates a recent decorative work. Also on the corners there are new letters 'c' and 'd' indicating parts placements, which again signifies a recent assembly. All in all I would think that you have a really nice decorative modern coffee table probably made in India of thereabouts. Hope this helps a little.

Hi, I own this coffee table... I bought it from Cost Plus World Market in Seattle about 9 years ago for around $150.00. Hope that helps you!

It's not an old table I have the same one. Purchased in San Jose brand new in 2001.
