This is an unusual cabinet card. It shows a boy fully decked out to show his support for the impending war with Spain.
The boy proudly wears a "uniform" modeled after the US Navy uniform of the period. Additionally, he has a small metal badge depicting an Armed Uncle Sam marching to the fight. Finally, the boy wears a badge that has a US Flag drop ribbon and a round medallion-- I am not sure exactly what the badge, but surely something Patriotic.
Interestingly, the back is dated as April 11, 1898. This is the exact day that President Mckinley went to Congress to ask for authority in sending US troops to Cuba!
