This is a Dr Pepper cooler I purchased in New Braunfels, Texas for $75.00. It has been restored recently by a friend of mine who owns an auto body shop in Lubbock, Texas. The cooler was painted pink by someone using a paint brush. The new paint is PPG "Dr Pepper Green". This was a color Dr Pepper used on its trucks that Ditzler paint originally formulated for them. I believe the cooler is from the 1950's because of the lettering stamped on the front and back. I was lucky that the top tray was with the cooler and in good shape. Many of these are missing. The cooler was manufactured by the Progressive Refrigeration Company, Louisville, Kentucky. This company branded these cooler for Coca Cola, Pepsi, etc.. The Dr Pepper cooler is fairly rare since DP was only a regional market when these were made.
