Sharing this 1940's carrier with a rope handle. Put up as BIN eBay for $30 delivered, so I jumped on it. Seller posted another one just like it the next day, perhaps even a little better condition, same price. I chose not to pull the trigger on #2. After receiving this beauty today, I wish I had, two woulda been cool. It's a sweet li'l piece. Old and authentic. Joins a 1941 wood carrier on the t.v. stand.
Hope everybody has a nice weekend. Keep the hits coming.
Dave
Is it dated like the regular crates area?
Hi jonima, No date on this carrier that I can see. It is listed in Petretti's 12th Edition Coca-Cola Collectibles Guide on page 374, valued $65.
Nice. I didn't think a bottle of pop would cost that much back then.
6 for 25¢ :)
Oh. That makes sense. :)
A fair indication of authenticity, actually. The example in Petretti's has similar "fuzzy" print. Oooh, it must hurt to be schooled by a rookie! :)
yep, it hurt.
That's a cool one Dave, been lookin for one of those for years and the minute my back is turned, you snag one!
I sure wish I'd grabbed that second one for ya Perry.
Something I noticed on this piece since I posted it: A manufacturer's repair. The wood split on one end when the nails were being driven, so a wavy metal wedge was pounded down into the crack to keep it from separating. Pic #2 shows that piece of metal slightly protruding from the top.
Nice carrier Dave, I always say spring for the second one. It never hurts to have two of everything!!!
I like the wedge Dave, adds alot to it I think.
