I was in southern Indiana today and came home with three picks. This is one of the picks. I've been trying to get this sign for almost a year. Finally today I got to talk to the owner and well it's hanging in my bathroom. The porcelain sign is 20" x 28" and is two colors. Notice baths for only $2.00 and I'm thinking the $1.00 is for a single room and the $1.50 is for a double room. The sign is from Shipshewana, Indiana.

I wonder if this sign comes from the old Davis Hotel in Shipshewana, IN. the hotel was built in 1891 and was destroyed by fire in 2004?

Love the sign but the toilet etc put shade over the sign. I can't believe nobody has commented on it. Bet you did all that yourself as it looks like a labour of love. I'm very impressed. had one of those overhead-tank Crappers in an old great-house I owned & when you flushed it, all the neighbours knew it. Kind of like crapping on a petri dish & having Niagara wash it away!

blunderbuss2, when you flush the toilet and your outside you can hear it. Your right. There's a cast iron pipe outside upstairs and you can hear it. lol

Mine was in a 300 yr. old+ great-house in St. Eustatius & had the standard porcelin water tank on the wall. I don't believe in ghost/duppies etc., but the bloody thing would start flushing around 2:AM every night after I bought the place. Screen on the window, door closed, - & it would start every night. I know plumbing & couldn't figure out how it could flush by it's self & tired of running down stairs in the middle of the nite. We only have cistern water there, so 1 nite when it flushed, I jumped up and yelled, "Stop wasting my water!". It never happened again. I joked that it was better to have a house that is possessed than one that is repossessed. As stated, I really don't believe in ghosts but too many strange things happened in that house to dismiss the idea & was told I had 4 "jumbies" by "experts". Useless story but hope you found it interesting. It is true as well as a lot of other things that went-on there.

That toilet would be perfect for my bathroom to go with my clawfoot tub. Didn't know they still made them. Have a feeling the Davis Motel is no longer modern.

Love seeing this come up again as it's such a beauty. Actually, here is St. Maarten/Martin, there are probably many houses that still have those old toilets etc.. They would trade for a new toilet in a heart-beat. Maybe there is a market there?

Thank you blunderbuss2 for stopping in and leaving the great compliment!

Actually, I wouldn't have if I didn't get the "email me--". Actually, I have quit even following CW along with many, because it is just too much a hassle to weed thru the un-collectables. Time is too valuable to wade thru plastic junk etc. that couldn't be sold at their last yard sale. Life's too short.
Man, I still love your work & may try to see what I can do to duplicate it here. It would look great in my lo!
