A standard army MkII with textured khaki green paint outside & smooth inside. It's made by Austin Motors & dated 1941, the liner was made by FFL. It has the elasticated Mk3 chin strap which came into use in 1941.
Hi, tinlid! Very interesting indeed that this was made by Austin Motors! Can you tell us about how the war affected Austin Motors, please? I remember that my Grandfather had purchased a new car right before WWII broke out - or right before the USA entered the fray, and that one of his coworkers was whining that there wouldn't be new cars on the market for a good long while. My grandfather, I think (not sure), finally sold his new car to the man who was pining away for it. I expect that things were much the same in Great Britain. Very nice helmet. Thank you. : )
Not sure if AMC was bombed or not during the war, BMB & F&L were I think. But a lot of the big companies like AMC would have had a big input into the war effort.
