This doll is about 16" tall. Very unique look, especially since the clothes is from the paper. It is kinda tick, old looking and to touch old and dry feeling. The head, legs and hands are ceramic or something else, but the whole body is made of paper. I should have uploaded a body pic. too.
Could not find any markings. Any help?
    Thanks!

Rob, I politely asked but my samurai is still sitting on the shelf unID's :)
I work for a Japanese co. and my boss told me that they have samurai dolls made and given to the kids at the age of 2, 5 and 7 yrs. Different for girls and boys. He had never seen this kind, but the technique of using a real flower (on the clothes) is very common, he said.
No clue yet...but I really like it.
Regards and thanks for your help!

      Paper samurai doll I believe
These are a traditional gift for Boy's Day or Children's Day (Kodomo no hi) on May 5th, known as Gogatsu ningyo. Families with boys set these up in a display in the tokonoma, or alcove, in their guest rooms.?

      Hi Senchi,

Came across your post while trying to identify a doll/statue that I recently purchased. Yours looks very similar with straw hair, paper garments and similar construction. Wondering if you ever found any other information on it? Yours is the only similar doll I've been able to find on the Internet.

      Thanks, Mike
