This is the first real (not childs) plate that I ever remember eating from. It belonged to my grandmother that died 5 years before I was born. She married in 1918 and was given this set as a gift the year their first child was born. It was her first new set of china after she married. They used this set as their everyday dishes and it was used until my grandfather passed away in 1975. I managed to get my grubby paws on this one plate and when I married and started my own home, I hung it in my kitchen above the dining room doorway. I can remember begging my parents for the child's set of blue willow when I was a child. I still have some, but not all of it. The teapot, minus the lid is on a shelf near my stove. My teddy bears and dolls were VERY bad to break my good china at tea parties! *L*
Thanks to mustangtony and kerry10456 for the love! :-)
Gorgeous plate, and heart warming story! This is a truly splendid Willow incarnation! So glad that you have this, chinablue! (Naughty of the bear-bears and dollies.)
I hope you also had a wonderful Thanksgiving, Bellin as well as everyone else here at CW! Our daughter and her family were in for the holiday and we had a delightful time. *S* Thanks for the love Bellin and miKKo!
I traced my love for blue willow back to my childhood tea set!
