I picked this up on ebay a few weeks ago. It's a 1963 AM-62. It was powered by a now obsolete style 9 volt battery. One would normally just add a wiring harness for a new style rectangular 9 volt rectangular and enjoy the radio. This unit is so small that a modern 9 volt would not fit in the case. Having seen this on one of the forums I visit, I purchased some watch/hearing aid 1.5 volt button batteries, connected them together to achieve the required 9 volts and the radio plays like new. You may be able to see them in the picture, partially obscured by electrical tape.
The radio is not a fountain of fidelity given its small size, but it plays loud and clear. Somewhat surprising as radios of this age begin to show issues with the electrolytic capacitors.
